Kings Church

WE ARE ...

A Family of God's people who personally know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. We have discovered in Jesus forgiveness of sin and freedom from guilt, peace of mind and eternal security, a new joy and power for living and a wonderful awareness of God's love for us.

WE BELIEVE...

That the Bible is true and that God has made himself know to use through his Son, Jesus Christ who is alive today. We see Jesus healing the physically and emotionally ill through the power of the Holy Spirit, restoring and renewing families and bringing young and old into a new and living relationship with their God.

About St Martin of Tours

The Parish Church of St Martin of Tours is not one building but two. The oldest part being the medieval belltower which is 15th century, attached to an early 19th century Georgian church of classic design, which originally had 3 galleries and seated 1,000 people.

In the early 20th century, there was the possibility of Epsom becoming a cathedral town, and in anticipation a completely new building was constructed, being completed in 1907-1909. The east end of the Georgian church was demolished linking the two buildings.

The first World War intervened, and Guildford became the chosen cathedral city, and today St. Martins remains incomplete. Despite this, it is a warm and welcoming church, full of life, and catering for a variety of styles of worship, as well as public concerts and civic occasions.

St Martin's Church's own Video film "The Gone and the Going On," the story of St Martin's Church was published in 2001. This 1 hour documentary includes the "Long Gone History", a "Historical Tour of the Church" and the many and varied "On Going Activities" in and out of the present Church, including some Churches Together events. The film has been made by Tony Chapman, a retired documentary and journalistic film maker. The video is available for £15 (or £20 for USA Conversions) with profits going to a local Mission Project. Obtainable from Jill Chapman on 01372 740993 and email: TonyandJill@twochapmans.freeserve.co.uk. Order Lists also in the Church and in the Parish Office.

St Joseph's Church and Community Centre

St Joseph's has built a new Church and Community Centre next to the Catholic Primary School. The new church was consecrated by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor on 1 May 2001, the feast of St Joseph the Worker. It is designed to serve both the modern liturgy and community life. Features include a circular altar, full immersion font, large narthex, large church hall, various meeting rooms and parish offices. The unique design of the church has been widely applauded. Visitors welcome. It's accessable via St. Margaret Drive off the Dorking Road. Outside service times the church is normally open weekdays 9.00am-4pm. See our web site for more information including an on-line tour of the church.
